Model

Floating Aquatic Planters are a great way to add a bit of lush greenery to a pond or water garden. With these bundles you can create a beautiful display of floating plants. These floating planter baskets are perfect for a wide variety of aquatic plants, ranging from Chameleon Plants, to Dwarf Blue Bells, to Wax Leaf Begonias.

These bundles each include a Mesh Planter Basket as well as a float. The mesh lattice design of the baskets allows for aquatic plants to self-water while allowing the absorption of excess nutrients, which otherwise could fuel algae blooms. These pots excel at supporting plants which grow more aggressively, something that comparable fabric planters often can't handle.

Available Models: 9" Square; 18" Contour.

If your koi love munching plants like mine…

This seems pricey at first glance, but it's very well made with quality products. I'm sure people can make similar things at home, but I'm not handy in that area. As a result, I just prefer to buy a good product, and I don't mind spending more or something that is well made and will last. This floating basket is just that. Now my water poppies are protected from my destructive koi who love to munch on anything growing including my water lilly that can barely keep a pad on the water surface because of them, but that's another story.I have another type of floating planter that is round and has a solid planter structure with just a few drain holes in the bottom that you can see in the background of my picture. It seems to me that it's not as good of a solution because the water doesn't flow through it as well. I actually drilled 9 one inch holes in the side around it trying to allow more water movement through it. My water lettuce are not doing well in it. Whereas the open basket design of this one I am reviewing will not have that problem. It's very well made and well thought out even down to the little details that make it easy to tie fishing line to it to anchor it to the side of the pond so it doesn't free float into other plants.I'm not normally one to buy something with no reviews because I want to be sure I'm spending money on quality things, so if you are like me, consider this a great solution to protect your pond plants.
