Like most pond heaters or deicers, the Aquascape 300 watt Pond Heater is designed to keep a hole in the surface of your pond and keep ice from sealing off the surface. If the pond is completely frozen over, lay the deicer on its side to gradually melt through the ice layer.
Gas exchange is vital for a pond, especially with goldfish and koi present. This unit will keep your pond open and keep a steady stream of oxygen for your fish in climates with lows as cold as -20° F. For colder climates we recommend coupling this heater with a pond aerator for optimal results.
