Piggyback Float Switch for Pump Protection
- Cuts power off to protect a water pump in low water situations.
- Compatible with any brand or model of water pump.
- Includes a 20 ft. long cord.
- An important accessory to help prolong the life of a pond pump!
If your pond water level drops unexpectedly, then a Piggyback Float Switch can save the life of your pump.
As the level of water in a pond decreases then the float lowers until the power to the pump is cut-off thereby
preventing pump failure due to over-heating.
This Custom Pro float switch can work with any model of submersible water pump.
Please Note: Directions for installation of the float switch are based on having a pond skimmer (although a skimmer is not a requirement).
Simply attach the float to the pump handle inside your skimmer with enough cord slack (about 4-6 inches of cord) so that the float
can freely move up and down as the water level changes inside the skimmer. Next, plug the float switch into a power outlet, then plug your pump into the back-side of the float switch plug. When water level is normal inside the skimmer, the float should be above the pump in an upright position allowing the pump to operate. As water level drops, the float needs to freely drop down below the point of attachment to the pump causing the electric current to be cut-off by the float switch. This protects your pump from running dry in low water situations (such as caused by a leak).
The float can also be attached to the inside of the skimmer instead of the pump handle if that is more convenient.
In either case, be sure the float can freely move up and down to operate properly.
This piggyback float switch has a generous 20 ft. long cord.
