Heavy Duty Reservoir Grate for Water Features | 8 Sizes
- Ideal for pondless water feature construction.
- Heavy duty PVC, weatherproof, waterproof and will never rust.
- Very Sturdy; about 2 ⅝ inches thick.
- Self-supporting grate needs no additional support for most water features.
- If the grate is used to support any item weighing over 50 pounds, then cinder blocks should be added beneath, allowing the grate to support up to 1,000 pounds.
- Can be easily cut with a hand-held circular saw to customize its shape, if needed.
If you don't want a sagging or leaning water feature, then use this heavy duty grate to keep it upright and level. This sturdy, self supporting grate platform requires no additional support for most water features. It is commonly used to cover water basins or reservoirs that support bubbling rocks, fountain vases, pottery or faux rocks. You can also use this strong black grate to construct a pondless waterfall or different pondless water feature.
Duronet Hardware Cloth Plastic Mesh is available to keep out fine debris.
- The 24" x 24" size is cut to size from a larger 24" x 48" grate, so will have one cut edge.
- We recommend adding support blocks under the grate's center for any fountain, stone or other feature that weighs over 50 pounds because even a heavy duty grate can sag in time without support. With cinder blocks added beneath, this grate can support up to 1,000 pounds.
- This product is only a support grate. Basins, reservoirs and pond liners to create water features are sold separately.

Yes, it's heavy duty
Heavy Duty indeed though you really do need center supports for weights over 200 lbs. With roughly 600 lbs on top it's working as advertised. I have block supports on two sides of a large fountain vase full of water in the concrete basin underneath the grating and no sign of deformity. It's only been in service for a couple of weeks so I can't speak of it's longevity in the Houston area sun. It should not get much exposure because it's covered with rocks (part of the 600 lbs). The plastic is not too rigid or brittle so it won't break easily. I definitely recommend this for a fountain basin cover (with supports!).

Just what we needed

Grate (see what I did there) purchase!
This grate was perfect for what we needed. We put in a French drain and still had some water collecting near the house. We decided to put in a water basin with a sump pump inside to pump the water out to the drains. We have this grate over the basin right on our back porch. It looks decent and it's sturdy enough for us to walk all over. We did have to build the basin with a two inch concrete edge to support this grate but it was well worth the effort.

This is a very sturdy grate to cover a small round 36 inch water reservoir serving a fountain and having a submersible pump. It is a little flexible so it will adapt to imperfections in the rim of the reservoir even though mainly supported at the 4 corners.. I feel very comfortable walking on it without having a reinforcing pillar at the center. Anything more than about 200 lbs I would want either a better frame to support the grate or a center support to improve stability. Grate makes it easy to clean and service the underground reservoir and components. Don't know yet how it will stand up to Arizona summers and direct sunlight.
